- Commute Info (www.commuteinfo.org) helps job seekers and employers in southwestern PA find alternatives to getting to work, other than driving alone. Our region includes 10 counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland. The commuter can be going to school or to work and must have at least one end of their commute within the 10 county area.
- Here to Help (www.heretohelp.pa.gov), an online resource, helps Pennsylvania residents make ends meet during difficult economic times. The website provides information about unemployment compensation and other government programs supporting employment and training, family services, veterans’ services, housing, seniors, economic development, and education.
- Washington County Literacy Council The purpose of the Washington County Literacy Council is to promote literacy by teaching low‐level & non‐reading adults basic literacy skills using trained tutors & by generating community awareness & support. (www.wclc4literacy.org)
- The U.S. Department of Labor has launched My Next Move, a web-based tool to provide jobseekers with information on more than 900 occupations, as well as local job openings and training opportunities. Users can search for jobs in three categories: jobs with a “bright outlook” in growing industries, jobs that are part of the “green” economy, and jobs with Registered Apprenticeship programs. - SPARC is a coalition of workforce development, social service and criminal justice agencies committed to serving job seekers with criminal records and linking them to employment opportunities and supportive services.
