BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADES INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP
 
The goals of the Building and Construction Trades Industry Partnership are as follows:

Define the workforce challenges of the Building and Construction Industry in Beaver, Washington, and Greene Counties. Convene employers, unions, existing intermediaries, and economic development groups to identify the highest priority issues;
 
Gain consensus on shared strategies to address these needs in the short and long term; and
 
Coordinate training providers and workforce intermediaries to better support the overall workforce development system for this cluster.

Youth learn about building and construction trades

From June 17 through June 27, 2008, ten middle school students from Chartiers Houston, Trinity and Washington school districts participated in a building and construction camp underwritten by the Southwest Corner Building and Construction Trades Industry Partnership. Instruction was provided by a certified vocational education teacher and hands on activities included building wooden tool boxes, bird houses, and a large play house.
