BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADES INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP

The goals of the Building and Construction Trades Industry Partnership are as follows:

	Define the workforce challenges of the Building and Construction Industry in Beaver, Washington, and Greene Counties. Convene employers, unions, existing intermediaries, and economic development groups to identify the highest priority issues;
	Gain consensus on shared strategies to address these needs in the short and long term; and
	Coordinate training providers and workforce intermediaries to better support the overall workforce development system for this cluster.

YOUTH LEARN ABOUT BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADES

This past summer, Southwest Training Services, Inc. sponsored three building and construction camps for 30 middle school students from Washington and Greene counties. The camps were held at Western Area Career & Technology Center, Mon Valley Career & Technology Center, and Margaret Bell Miller School. Hands-on activities included building wooden tool boxes, dog houses, and large play houses. We thank the LEGO foundation, the Southwest Corner Building and Construction Industry Partnership, and Southwest Corner WIB for their support.
